The 24-year-old will be free to leave the club this summer, and has caught the eye of several clubs with his performances in the Championship this season.
He is sure to be offered the chance to stay in the second tier of English football, but United are hoping to convince him to stay at the club where he came through the ranks.
"It's still in the balance, I don't really know. t's going to be a big summer for me," he told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
"I love this club. I've spent my career here and it's like a second home to me. That counts for something when I'm making my decision, but inevitably it has to be about me and my family."
