Brads delayed the operation following the legbreak suffered by Richard Kell left United short in the middle.
This meant he was available for the christmas and new year period, although hampered by the injury he played shite.
Following the operation Brads will now be out for around six weeks.
With Wayne Graves and Matthew Sparrow now back to full fitness following injury and a stretch in gaol respectively the time was deemed right for the op.
"Carl had the surgery on a previous operation and it was pretty straightforward," said club physio Nigel Adkins.

Meanwhile there is more good news on the injury front, with James Cotterill and Martin Carruthers both returning to training after spells out.
Nigel Pepper was also today expected to feature for the reserves in a behind closed doors friendly match.
