Bookies tip Sharp for goal success

Online bookmakers Bet365 rate the 19-year-old, who joined from Sheffield United in a deal worth up to £100,000 on Tuesday, to be as likely as more established names such as Darren Byfield (Gillingham), Freddy Eastwood (Southend), Phil Jevons (Yeovil), Tony Thorpe (Swindon), Paul Heffernan (Doncaster) and James Hayter (Bournemouth) to finish top of the scoring chart come May.

Sharp is also placed above names such as Shaun Goater (Southend), Luke Beckett (Oldham), Jamie Cureton (Swindon) and Daniel Nardiello (Barnsley).

Fellow Iron forward Tommy Johnson is rated at 50/1, whilst former Iron Paul Hayes (Barnsley) is 14/1.

The favourite for the crown is Huddersfield striker Pawel Abbott (7-1), who scored twenty-six goals last season, and has continued where he left off - netting three in three so far.

Sharp, who netted nine goals in 16 appearances during a loan spell at Rushden last year, is expected to make his debut at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
