It was claimed that Oyston saw Adkins as his number one target for the vacant managerial position at Bloomfield Road following the departure of Michael Appleton.
Adkins was instilled as short priced favourite with the bookies, just hours after his Southampton departure.
However despite Oyston's best efforts to contact the former Iron boss, he's so far been unsuccessful according to the Blackpool Gazzette.
Adkins is yet to return Pool’s calls and was due to jet off on holiday today.
Should he have to turn his attention elsewhere, Oyston is keeping an eye on Owen Coyle and Billy Davies, but feels their insistence on bringing their own backroom staff would cost the club the continuity he is keen to protect.
Keith Hill is also in the running, after ruling himself out of the vacant Rochdale position, the club he used to manage.
