Bean joined the club this week as an associate director, having already built up a strong working relationship with the club.

He has represented the club twice this season, Brian Laws after an incident at Macclesfield and the club after the bust-up against Oldham in the Carling Cup.

He told Iron-Bru.net: "For such a big business many people don't realise just how tight-knit it is, it's like a cottage industry.

"Hopefully I can help through my contacts in the game. With regards to a new manager, if asked I can help put the board in touch with anyone they feel is right.

"The Scunthorpe supporters are very lucky because the board run the club very well.

"I told the local paper that they were one of the best three and they are run very well, I've always thought that."

Bean is also hoping that his involvement with the club will help improve relations with supporters, he indicated a willingness to assist the formation of a new supporters club and hope to help in fans forums.

He said: "I've got no problems speaking in front of hundreds of people, I've done it before when I was at the Football Supporters Federation.

"Having been on both sides of the game I think my views on the supporters role in the game has changed.

"Fans might not like what I tell them but I'll always be completely truthful with them."
