The 39-year-old has made two substitute appearances so far, as he attempts to regain match sharpness, and made Richard Hinds' equalising goal against Gillingham on Saturday.
Laws told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: "Peter is pushing hard for a place in the first team and he is not far off.
"He is a confident player and the sort of games we are playing at the moment will suit him down to the ground.
"He is working very hard to force his way into the team and give us those 90 minute games.
"At the moment I don't think he is ready yet, but before long he's going to be giving us 60 minutes and then more and more. We will ease him in gently."
