Ian Baraclough, Scunthorpe's caretaker manager, has called on Iron supporters to create an intimidating cup tie atmosphere against Manchester United on Wednesday night.
A near full-house is expected at Glanford Park for the Carling Cup third round tie against the holders.
The visitors are expected to make substantial changes to the team that defeated Liverpool on the Premier League on Sunday, with Portuguese youngster Bebe likely to partner Michael Owen up front.
While players like Owen are unlikely to be distracted by home supporters, Baraclough is hoping fans can play their part in creating an upset.
"If we can give the crowd something to shout about, they can help the lads along and make it a real good cup-tie atmosphere," he told Sky Sports.
"Night games are special. You seem to have more energy and the crowd seem to be right on top of you a little bit more. It is good for the club as far as revenue, but my lads want to test themselves against the best. There have been upsets in the past, there will be upsets in the future and we hope to be one of them."
