Baraclough, 39, was made caretaker manager last weekend following the departure of Nigel Adkins and his assistant Andy Crosby to Southampton.
His first game in charge was the impressive 4-0 Championship win at Sheffield United. That was followed by a 2-0 loss at Swansea City and a 5-2 Carling Cup defeat to Manchester United.
Steve Wharton, the Iron chairman, was not at Glanford Park on Wednesday for the loss to the Red Devils after health concerns but will be in North Lincolnshire on Thursday to find out if Baraclough will become the 23rd man to take charge of Scunthorpe United.
Baraclough was told from the start that the job was his if he wanted it, and he suggested the position will be his on a full-time basis ahead of Saturday's visit of Ipswich Town.
"I've enjoyed my three games in charge, I've enjoyed making the decisions and it gives me a taste for a bit more," he told BBC Radio Humberside.
"It has got to be right for myself and my family. You can never prepare yourself for the job, I just had to make sure that it was sitting right with me."
