Home Office statistics show the number of fans arrested increased from 15 in 2006/7 to 22 in 2007/8 - a rise of 46.7 per cent.
Three were arrested at home games, while 19 were arrested at away matches for a series of offences including alcohol related (13), public disorder (6), racist chanting (1), violent disorder (1) and damage to property (1).
Jamie Hammond, general manager of Scunthorpe United, claimed the rise was probably to do with the team's promotion.
"There's a rise of seven people and we were in the Championship season, and so had more people arrested," he said.
