Alexander blasts `unnecessary` criticism

He said: "We have had a lot of criticism, especially from the opposite camp which I think is unnecessary.

"It is a terrible pitch to play on, but irrespective of the pitch it has been a good game of football today. The lads have come in, worked hard, and they deserve everything that they get

"I'm pleased we're going to Scunthorpe with a lead, my team give me the same effort and commitment week in week out and again today - I can't fault them.

"We have got to keep it a lot tighter because if Scunthorpe get one goal then we are on the back foot."

The two managers didn't shake hands after the game, and Alexander - who reported Laws to the LMA earlier in the season - didn't take kindly to this.

He added: "I'm not too pleased with it. At the end of the day it's a game of football, we say what we have to say then shake hands with the opposition and get on with it.

"If he doesn't want to shake hands with me then that's down to him"
