The former Liverpool trainee has penned a deal until the end of the season after impressing in a trial period at Glanford Park.
He has been plying his trade with Virginia State University - where he netted 18 times in 83 appearances - in the United States, after going through their college system following his release from Anfield.
And Adkins admits the 22-year-old midfielder has been signed to add depth to the Iron squad.
"We have given him a contract until the end of the season and he will be a boost to the squad," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
"You never know what is going to happen. He is six-feet tall, has got two good feet and plays in a few different positions."
