Grzegorz Rasiak sent Scunthorpe spiralling towards the foot of the Championship with his first goal in four months enough to secure a much needed win for the Saints.
Adkins told BBC Humberside: "We've played them off the football park, we've created 11 great chances in the first-half.
"Buy the DVD from the club shop, it was a fantastic performance.
"We're evolving all the time, but we have to put the ball in the back of the net, we're creating good opportunities, we're doing the right things.
"We've played the mighty Southampton off the park, it's as simple as that."
