Adkins: We'll keep fighting

United took an early lead at Molineux through Andy Butler, but conceded twice after the interval to miss a key chance to close on safety.

"We were very pleased with ourselves first half, we put ourselves into the lead," Adkins said.

"I'm disappointed in the second half, we never kept the ball for longer periods of time, that then allows a bit of pressure to build up against a team who pass the ball well on a nice pitch.

He added: "We have to pick ourselves up, we go forward to the next game. We have four games at home and if we win them it puts us on 50 points.

"We have another three games away, if we can win one of them it gives us a right good chance."

Neill Collins headed home a late winner after Michael Gray's deflected half-volley had put the home side level.

Wanderers chief Mick McCarthy admitted his side were not at the best, but praised their work-rate.

"We won, nothing else really matters at this moment in time, we achieved what we had to achieve," he said.

"I'm just pleased with the way we reacted and won the game. We are not going to get any plaudits for the way we played or anything else.

"I think we have played some good stuff today against a team who are scrapping. I don't think we were that bad, we were just finding it hard to get a goal."
