Speaking on Iron World, Adkins said: "We are still in there. It is not mathematically out of reach so we have to keep going.
"We have got to pick ourselves up. Everyone has got to keep grabbing an oar for each other because it is twitchy time now and everybody is going to be panicking.
"We can go out and play with a relaxation, and no fear, because everybody outside the environment expects us to go down.
Adkins also revealed that the team tried to be positive, despite going a goal down, as they knew how important the game was to both the players and the fans.
"We tried to be positive about it because we realised how important it was to get something from this game.
"But because of that you leave yourself open to the counter-attack."
