Adkins hails important point

The point takes United's tally to 15, although the Iron dropped a place down to 11th.

"It's a sign of how far we have come when everybody is very, very disappointed that we haven't beaten a Leicester City side with the millions of Milan Mandaric," said Adkins.

"Its an important point. I think when we watch the video we will see we had the lion's share of the possession and tried to create.

"We can't go out and spend millions like Leicester so we have got a group of guys who are trying to do the best they can, and I think we were the better team.

"I think we forced the issue all the way through the game to try and win it. We have kept good possession of the football and I think it shows just how far the football club has come.

"We tried to go a little bit more direct but we are not very good at going direct. We didn't put the ball into the penalty area as well as we could."

Leicester manager Gary Megson did not speak to the press, with Foxes coach Gerry Taggart angered by the red card shown to Iain Hume as well as the decision to rule out a Patrick Kisnorbo effort for offside.

Hume was shown a second yellow after a late tackle on Iron right-back Cliff Byrne.

"It's not a sending off and that is the most polite way I can put it," said Taggart.

"Iain has jumped early for the ball and accidentally caught the guy who I think has made a meal of it.

"I don't think it is a yellow card. I think he won the ball fairly by jumping early.

"We have all seen the replay of Patrick's goal in the dressing room and he is clearly not offside.

"Referees and linesmen have decisions to make on the field of play. It is not an easy job as we all know but he was clearly offside."
