Away Days: Sixfields

What did you think to the stadium?

Well it is nice enough, but to be honest it is a bit small. There was about 4,500 there on Friday night and it looked almost full. For a brand new ground it seems like they didn't have much ambition when building it. But it is ok - at least it's covered.

Could the wall/goalie have done better for the opening goal?

We were at the far end obviously but for me I think Russell has to be blamed. To me, it didn't look like the ball was in the corner of the goal, I reckon he was very slow getting across. Don't know about the wall - Russell sets that up so if it's poorly positioned it's his fault, but I don't think it was and the ball didn't go through it either.

At half-time did we deserve to have equalised or should Northampton have extended their lead?

I think we did. Apart from the goal & hitting the bar (or was it a good save?) Northampton didn't do much. We should have had a penalty when Graves was fouled shooting about a yard out, MacLean was pushed over outside the box, going through on goal, Torpey missed a sitter with a header straight at the keeper and MacLean should have done better when through on goal.

What did you think to Richard Kell's equaliser?

Dunno! It looked like a cross from where we were stood. Definitely a bit of luck which we haven't had recently. We had some good pressure at the start of the second half and a few good moves.

Do you think we should have gone on to win the match then?

Yes. We had 2 great chances, both of which fell to Torpey. I don't think injuries helped and losing Sparrow and Featherstone really left us short on width. Suffice to say they gave their man of the match award to their keeper.

Steve Torpey missed a few chances, how do you rate him at the moment?

Ok. Looks short on confidence but his first chance in the second looked unmissable from our end. Most of us were already cheering it before the keeper saved it. Then he missed another good one from a corner, God knows how. We showed on Tuesday that we're better with him but he HAS to start getting some goals.

What did you think of the referee?

Useless, but that's not news is it. Takes a special sort of ref to get both ends singing "you don't know what you're doing". His bookings were bizarre as well. Only Kell and Sharp really deserved yellows yet he only booked Harsley for elbowing Kell and didn't seem to know the rule about persistent fouling cos their centre backs gave away so many free kicks but never got booked.

Finally, confident going into the game at Carlisle on Tuesday night?

We look a bit more resilient but I think it depends on who's fit. Kilford seems to have been ill for about three weeks now, Sparrow and Featherstone didn't look too clever on Friday night, Kell's suspended, Sharp's not fully fit and MacLean doesn't look right. Apart from that, why not?

Our thanks to George for taking part in Away Days, if you're planning on travelling to Carlisle on Tuesday and fancy answering a few questions please email us at awaydays@iron-bru.net.
