Lincoln City 1 - 12 Scunthorpe United

Scunthorpe United's Official Supporters Side, Iron Filings IFC, played the now traditional fixture against Lincoln City's equivalent, Dam Netbusters, at Breedon Drive Barracks ahead of yesterday's derby clash.

The matches are always highly contested, but the Filings have a tremendous record against local sides and have a 100% winning record for the season so far.

After a nine O'Clock meet in Scunthorpe the match kicked off at 10.20, and the opening half an hour was closely contested.

The breakthrough came with a great strike from forward Neil Hodge, it was the longest the Filings had waited for a goal to be scored in any of their matches this season.

Shin splints forced Matt Brewer off the pitch, and he was replaced by John Bailey who was promptly upended in the area for a penalty which he converted. Moments before the Filings had survived a penalty scare of their own.

Chris Parkinson scored with a second penalty to ensure a 3-0 lead at half-time for the Filings.

A change of goalkeepers at the break failed to knock the Filings out their stride, and they turned on the heat in the second half adding nine goals before a lack of concentration at the back allowed the Netbusters to nick a consolation goal.

Iron-Bru.net lost count of how each goal was scored, but Neil Hodge added three goals to total four strikes. John Bailey completed a hat-trick and HOdge Junior scored a quickfire hat-trick of his own despite playing at left-back.

Full goalscorers yesterday - N.Hodge (4), J.Bailey (3), J.Hodge (3), C.Parkinson (2).

The Filings will next be in action in a fortnight's time when they travel to Darlington in the morning of United's game at Macclesfield Town.

Yesterday's lineup: Johnson, Preston, J.Hodge, Dixon, Dexter, Bodie, Newcombe, Brewer, C.Parkinson, R.Parkinson, N.Hodge, Thornhill, Bailey, Williams.
