Worldnet 2003, held at the Boddington Hall Campus of Leeds University, saw supporters teams from across Europe meet for a two-day tournament.
The Filings, representing Scunthorpe, lost their first match 2-1 at the hands of Leeds United - with midfielder Andew Leckey scoring from the penalty spot for the Iron.
A goaless draw followed, and a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the sponsors side Sport Interactive - who boasted former Liverpool midfielder Ray Houghton in their ranks - saw their inaugral Worldnet tournament ended on the first day.
They entered the plate competition, against other teams who had been eliminated from the main competition, but were knocked out in the first round by Manchester United.
After a goaless game the match went straight to penaltys, where the Filings lost out 4-3. Darren Hughes, Ryan Parkinson and James Newcombe netted for the Filings.
