The club have already begun discussions with North Lincolnshire Council over a new location should they decide to leave Glanford Park and the Trust met with chairman Peter Swann to ensure that the fans are involved in the process.
“We are very encouraged by Mr Swann’s willingness to talk honestly and openly with us, and thank him for attending our board meeting,” said Luke Thornhill, spokesman for the Trust.
“This meeting was all about establishing a relationship with Mr Swann, and now we can get stuck into areas we feel can really help the club and supporters – anyone who follows the club’s social media channels can already see how our push for greater fan engagement is improving experiences.
“We will continue to work with the club where we can on improving engagement with fans, and projects like the Iron Museum historical archive, and are preparing to do everything we can to ensure the wishes of fans are taken into consideration for any stadium move.”
The meeting also included broader discussion of the Trust’s long-term aims of a seat on the board, something Mr Swann is open to.
The Trust’s board have agreed to apply for a further £500 or shares to take the Trust’s shareholding up to £2,500, with further applications expected.
The Iron Trust has grown quickly since its launch in 2012, with more than 270 members by the end of the season and more than 120 signed up already for the current campaign.
Membership is £10 for adults, £3 for U16s and £20 for families (two adults and unlimited U16s). Sign-ups are accepted via the ticket office at Glanford Park, via Trust Corner on matchdays or online at www.theirontrust.com.
