The trust were present during the open day which preceded Cliff Byrne's Benefit match at Glanford Park on Sunday July 29, and on Tuesday morning launched their online signup process at www.theirontrust.com.
"We signed up more than 40 members, which was great for a couple of hours of work," said Luke Thornhill, a member of the Trust's interim board.
"Plenty of people took away forms, and we expect our membership to rise as soon as we are able to take online payments."
As well as signing up members, two bottles of whisky and two signed Iron shirts were won by fans.
Byrne, who was the first former play to join the Trust, stopped by to offer his support.
The Trust will continue their launch with a stand at the first Saturday home game of the season - the League One tie against Yeovil Town on Saturday August 25.
"Then the real hard work begins, we will conclude our launch with an event in September then hold elections to form the first official board," added Thornhill.
"Then it is up to that board to develop the relationship with the club that we've started, and see what we can do to the mutual benefit of the club and supporters."
