Marcus emerged in the 2004/05 season as a player to watch out for in the future. The defender impressed at left back in a friendly against Sunderland and that marked Williams out as another gem in the SUFC production line.
The player made his first appearance for United the season before, in a routine home victory against Yeovil. He was only on for a few minutes, but the player certainly didn't look out of place.
Earning rave reviews for the reserves, Williams made six appearances last season, all as a substitute, but enough to earn Williams his first professional contract in March and he will be looking forward to battling it out with Lee Ridley for the Iron's left-back spot this season.
